Appeal after rare Indian statues stolen from Sutton |
Dear Resident,
We are appealing for information after two rare Indian statues were stolen from a house. The bronze statues were stolen from a house in Church Lane, Sutton, near Ely, between 26 and 29 April. They are replicas of statues dating back to the Chola period, a dynasty originating from Southern India, between the ninth and 13th centuries and were handcrafted in Tamil Nadu. PC Taylor said: “The victim would just like his statues back as they mean a lot to him. If anyone has seen the statues for sale on social media or at car boot sale, I would urge them to get in touch with us.” Anyone with information about the theft or the whereabouts of the two statues should use reference 35/32259/26 and report it through the force website. Anyone without internet access should call 101.
Kind regards,
