Dear Resident,
Residents in Wisbech have recently raised concerns about anti-social driving linked to car meets in the town, particularly in the Europa Way area.
In recent months, there have been incidents where people have been struck by vehicles being driven dangerously. We have also received reports of nuisance driving, including revving engines, excessively loud exhausts, wheel spinning and drifting.
Officers from Wisbech Neighbourhood Policing Team have been carrying out dedicated engagement and enforcement activity in response. Over the past week, this has included speaking with people attending car meets, building relationships with the car enthusiast community, and taking action against those who are driving irresponsibly. While the majority of those attending are respectful and considerate, a small minority continue to put others at risk.
As a result of this activity: Two people are being voluntarily interviewed on suspicion of dangerous drivingSix people have received Notices of Intended Prosecution for dangerous drivingThree Section 59 warnings have been issuedOne person has been reported for careless/inconsiderate drivingWe will continue to work with the community while taking robust action against those who choose to drive dangerously or cause disruption.
Kind regards,
Tim Goddard Communications officer |
