WARNING: Ten thefts from vehicles reported in your area

Dear Resident,

Between 21 March and 22 April, 48 crimes have been raised for theft from vehicles across Peterborough, with ten reports coming from the northern sector of the city, including:

  • Westwood
    • Charlotte Way
    • Hampton Court
  • Paston
    • Paynesholm
    • Donaldson Drive
  • Bretton
    • Cleatham
    • Horrell Court
    • Headings Drive
  • Werrington
    • Staverton Road
  • Ravensthorpe
    • Willonholt
  • West Town
    • Mayors Walk
  •

A variety of items were stolen, including vehicle documents, bank cards, clothing and electronic devices.

It was found that a mix of offences have been reported, with some vehicles being left unlocked and some having a smashed window.

To protect yourself from falling victim to this opportunistic crime, you can:

  • Always make sure your vehicle is locked and windows are shut when leaving your vehicle unattended, even just for a brief moment. All it takes for these opportunists is for one to be unlocked…
  • Take it with you or hide it. Any items can be desirable for someone to try and seal. It is important to remember that you should never leave wallets, handbags, or purses in a vehicle.
  • Hide evidence that would indicate there are electrical items in the vehicle, such as cables and mounts.
  •

You can find more information about protecting your vehicle on our dedicated webpages.

If you notice any suspicious activity, or have video footage, please report it to us online. If a crime is in action, or someone may be in immediate danger, always dial 999.

    Kind regards,
