Appeal: Armed men target Waterbeach store

Dear Resident,

Can you help with our witness appeal?

Four armed men threatened staff and escaped with cash in an aggravated burglary at a shop in Waterbeach.

We are appealing for witnesses after the break-in at the One Stop, in Green Side, at just after 9pm yesterday (9 January).

The masked men used weapons, including axes and an iron bar, before fleeing in a blue Vauxhall Mokka later found abandoned in a lay-by on the A10, near Denny End Road. The men are then thought to have switched to a different car to continue their escape.

Staff were threatened but no-one was injured, and cash was taken from the store, but it is unclear how much.

DC Callum Fullwood said: “This was a frightening incident for staff, and I can only imagine how they must have felt when confronted by armed men.

“It is thought to be an isolated incident but there will be an increased police presence in the area today and over the weekend.

“We are keen to piece together what happened but to continue to do that, we need the public’s help. We would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time to get in touch, as well as those with any relevant footage – be that from dash cam, phone or CCTV – to contact us urgently.

“Any information, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, could make all the difference.”

Anyone with any information is urged to report this to police online quoting crime reference 35/1942/25. Those without internet access should call 101.

Kind regards,
