Parking tickets issued to cars parked in the new bus layby

Dear Resident,

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been focusing on targeting illegal parking in March, particularly after feedback from the town councillors about people using the new bus laybys as parking bays.

In between responding to calls for service, we have been issuing tickets to those parked illegally and engaging with those we saw out and about, educating them about the issue and pointing them towards the right places to park.

Coming to March and want to avoid a parking ticket? You can safely park your car…

  • At the Market Place for two hours in any three hour period between 9am and 6pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. It is shut for the market between 4am and 7pm on Wednesday and Saturday. Outside of these hours, there is not a parking limit.
  • City Road Lorry Park – cars can park for 24-hours and HGVs and Coaches can park for up to 72-hours.
  • City Road, Leisure Centre, Robingoodfellow’s Lane and Darthill Road all have a 24-hour parking limit.
  • We will continue these patrols when we can. We can’t be everywhere, but we could be anywhere.

    Kind regards,
