Dear Resident,

It's nearly time for mince pies, hot chocolates and lots of Christmas shopping.

Unfortunately, there are a few grinches around who like to spoil the fun and have an eye for stealing. 

Distraction thieves are on the lookout for mobile phones and purses that are left out on tables in restaurants and coffee shops.

They might ask for money, directions or simply strike up a conversation while using a piece of paper or a menu to cover your phone on the table and steal it.

If you are planning a day out whether it be shopping, a coffee date or dinner in a restaurant, make sure you keep your possessions in secure in a bag and don't let them out of your sight.
