Ongoing patrols to tackle ASB round the Bretton Centre

Dear Resident,

While on dedicated patrols across Peterborough to address issues around anti-social behaviour (ASB), we spent some time in the Bretton centre, talking to staff about their concerns and giving them advice on what to do. We ended up having to remove a group of school-aged children from the centre following reports of ASB occurring recently.

We attended a meeting with the Cresset staff and the YMCA Youth Centre last month to address the ongoing youth ASB in the area, such as the scaffolding being climbed, verbal abuse towards staff and damage to the glass on the emergency door locks.

Anti-social behaviour around the Bretton Centre is an issue that your local neighbourhood policing team have been prioritising, and will continue to prioritise over the next three months, especially with schools finished until September.

In order to combat this, we will be increasing our patrols, whether that be on foot or in marked vehicles, and working closely with staff and other agencies to reduce the levels of ASB and make it a place that the community can enjoy visiting. For example, we are looking into ways to extend the opening hours of the YMCA Youth Centre to give the children a place to go.

If you witness any anti-social behaviour, you can report it to us online or by calling 101. If a crime is in progress or someone is in danger, always call 999.

Kind regards,
