Police assist with loan shark warrant in Sawston

Dear Resident,

This morning we were in Sawston assisting our colleagues from the Illegal Money Lending Team with a warrant in relation to illegal money lending and money laundering.

With the help of Police Dog Walton, the address and a business premises in the Pampisford area were searched and electronic devices were seized.

One man was arrested on suspicion of money laundering and profiting from or concealing knowledge of the proceeds of crime and remains in custody.

This week is Stop Loan Sharks Week, which has the theme No Blame, No Shame. Borrowers can sometimes feel afraid to admit they have borrowed from an illegal lender because they feel ashamed or think they have done something wrong, But the lender is the criminal not them.

Anyone who has been affected by illegal money lending should call the Stop Loan Sharks 24/7 confidential helpline on 0300 555 2222 or access support online.

Kind Regards,

Sergeant Amanda Rossiter
