Ram raid in Soham

Dear Resident,

Police are currently at the scene of a ram raid in Hall Street, Soham, this morning.

A member of the public called in just after 2am reporting a group of people were targeting the Londis store, using a JCB teleporter to smash into the front.

They left with an ATM on a flatbed van, which has since been recovered.

Officers remain in the area this morning and a cordon is in place to preserve evidence as investigations are ongoing.

The road also remains closed at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting reference 35/85145/23.

You can help us stop ram raids like these by:

🌍 Ensuring your vehicles have working trackers installed - particularly owners of high-performance cars or ‘heavy vehicles’ such as transits and flat beds

🎥 Consider installing video doorbells or CCTV

🏠 Report anything suspicious, for example people scoping houses or tampering with number plates

🤔 Report any instances of people appearing to be paying attention to ATM machines, including taking photos or unauthorised people attaching ‘out of order’ signs

👀 Raise concerns about anything that doesn’t feel quite right involving high performance cars, ‘heavy vehicles’ or plant travelling in towns and villages during the hours of darkness

🚗 Report high-performance or ‘heavy’ vehicles that are not usually in the area and appear to have been left parked for a few days.

Kind Regards,

Detective Inspector Nick Cook
